What’s Holding You Back, Listening Better, + My Motherhood Regrets

Hello, my friend!

I hope your week is going well. It’s been a tough one for some very dear friends of mine. If it’s been less than awesome for you too, I pray you feel the Lord’s comfort, receive His wisdom, and surrender fully to His plan for whatever trial you’re facing. Remember, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12:12

I hope you find a useful and/or encouraging takeaway from this week’s Top 4! I’m excited to share with you a new Substack I’ve been writing for “old moms” (women who started having kids later in life) like myself, titled The Late-Blooming Mom.

POTENTIAL PIT FALLS

Things that keep people from fulfilling their potential:

  • Lacking the courage to try

  • Trying to please everyone

  • Imitating the desires of others

  • Chasing status without questioning why

  • Playing superhero and trying to do it all alone

  • Dividing attention between too many projects”

“YES, I HAVE REGRETS…”

That’s the title of my first Substack post for The Late-Blooming Mom. Check it out HERE!

GOD NEVER HURRIES

“God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which He must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.” – A.W. Tozer

TIP FOR BETTER LISTENING

I heard this tip in either a YouTube video or an Instagram post created by Jefferson Fisher. He said when we’re having a conversation, “Pretend you’re going to take a test afterwards. Be a student of the person you’re listening to.”

Too often when someone’s talking to me, I catch myself zoning off, either thinking about something completely unrelated to the topic of conversation, or thinking of what I’m going to interject with next. Bad habit! Being an active, attentive listener is a skill I think we can all improve upon.
