What Irritates Illuminates, Relationships are the Key, and MORE!

Hello, my friend!

I have literal seconds until my 10-month-old awakens demanding his morning “milkies” (I’ve inexplicably supplied this child with a manner of speaking inspired by Stewie Griffin of Family Guy fame, and in my pitiful attempt to emulate his voice, I say “milkies.” I’m weird and I know it.)  Anyway, this intro will be short and sw—maybe just short, come to think of it!

It’s been a wonderful week thus far. I’ve been absolutely delighting in hearing and reading from people who have read, or are reading, Ring of Wishes! Thank you to everyone who’s been messaging me with their encouraging feedback! You can pre-order your copy HERE! It releases on October 8.

Kicking off this week’s Top 4 is a quote I heard in a sermon this week from Skip Heitzig of Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque. (For the past week or so, I’ve been dipping my toes into bibliology—the study of the doctrine of Scripture—in preparation to teach FIRST GRADERS once a week. I am not taking this responsibility lightly and certainly appreciate any prayers for wisdom and effectiveness. Thank you in advance!

WHAT IRRITATES, ILLUMINATES

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” – Carl Jung

RELATIONSHIPS ARE THE KEY…

Relationships are usually the most important thing.

If you want to achieve more, there is some relationship that can unlock better results. If you want to make a meaningful contribution, helping others is a great way to do it. If you simply want to be a little happier, life is often more fun when shared with someone.

Whatever you’re trying to accomplish, relationships are probably the key to getting there. Take this idea seriously and spend a little time thinking about which relationships you need to build or invest in.” -James Clear

RING OF WISHES Excerpt

“I can change that, you know,” whispers Aphrodite from the ring.

Rosalind, who’d surprised herself by not reacting with a jump or a shriek, grabs her phone from her purse and pretends to speak into it. “Change what?”

“Your disastrous love life,” says Aphrodite. “Either before, after, or at the same time as I repair your relationship with your sisters.”

Rosalind looks out the window as she piano-plays her fingers on the table.

“You’re dubious.”

“You’re darn right, I’m dubious,” Rosalind snaps through gritted teeth.

“Your grandfather used to say something similar to that. ‘Damned straight’ was his variation. Such a curious phrase.”

Rosalind’s eyes drop back to the ring. “How did you know him?” “If you wish, I can tell you. But then you’ll only have two wishes left.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Rosalind sees the waiter coming toward the table, Texas-Sized Brownie in hand, and shoves the ring back on her finger. “We’ll finish this later.”
