Unconventional I.Q. Test, the Never-Ending Good, Current Book Recs & MORE!

Hello, my friend!

I hope you’re doing well and staying cool! With temperatures in the upper 90s and humidity levels being as subtropical and complaint-worthy as ever, my kids and I are in full-on amphibian mode, spending inordinate amounts of time in pools, splash pads, sprinklers…any body – or small appendage – of water does just fine for us! My seven-month-old is proving to be a pollywog just like his siblings. We joke that he may very well learn to float on his back before he crawls!

Before we dive into this week’s Top 4, I just have to share my current fiction read with you. It’s called The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. My mom read it in a matter of days and left it for me during her recent visit. I’m only 30ish pages in and am absolutely hooked! It’s a New York Times Bestseller for a reason – definitely check it out!

In addition to that novel, I’m enjoying a nonfiction read on discovering and nurturing children’s unique types of intelligences. Check it out HERE!

Alrighty, time for the Top 4! Hope you enjoy!

UNCONVENTIONAL I.Q. TEST

“The biggest test of intelligence is: do you get what you want out of life?” – Matt Beaudreau

HAPPINESS DEFINED

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.” -Denis Waitley

THE NEVER-ENDING GOOD

“It’s so good that the fields and forests and clouds never change, unlike us human beings. (We remain the same too, or so it might seem to a giant, but our mutual relationships are constantly changing.) And even when you think that everything’s about to end, the moon reappears in the sky the following night, the same as ever. And the birds continue to sing as sweetly and busily without worrying whether there’s any point in it. Have you noticed the way they tilt their little heads to the sky and sing with complete abandon, and how their little throats swell? It’s good that such things are always with us. You have them too. It’s enough to gladden one’s heart, isn’t it?”

Yours,

Sofie (From At the Heart of the White Rose)

AWESOMENESS & CLOCKS DON’T MIX

“Nearly everything awesome takes longer than you think.
Get started and don’t worry about the clock.” – James Clear
