Hello, my friend!
I hope you’re doing well and feeling great!
As I was getting ready for the day this morning, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to longevity expert Dr. Peter Attia give an interview on the Diary of a CEO YouTube channel. It’s titled, “Anti-Aging Cure No One Talks About! 50% Chance You’ll Die in a Year If This Happens!”
In the episode, Dr. Attia discusses the importance of sleep, training for our last decade of life, what causes injuries in the gym, why building muscle mass is so important, he danger of falls after age 65 (this ties in with the click-baity title!), preventing bone density loss, and so much more! I definitely recommend giving it a listen HERE!
One thing I really appreciated in the interview was Dr. Attia’s emphasis on working out safely and consistently. I’ll be 39 this year; my goals in the gym are NOT to be super-duper strong, but to be super-duper fit, which to me means having a fair amount of flexibility and strength, and plenty of endurance for keeping up with my three young children.
Dr. Attia resistance (aka “strength”) trains three days a week and does cardio four days a week. One of his cardio days focuses on VO2 max training, which he details in the interview. I think this is a great template for most individuals who, like me, exercise chiefly to improve our quality of life and be as healthy as possible, for a lifetime!
Okay, time for this week’s Top 4. I hope you enjoy it!

Getting Our Acts Together
“You can’t just think yourself into ‘being well’ or into ‘good mental health.’
You have to act.
Connecting with friends. Loving others.
Loving yourself. Eating well. Exercising.
Doing hard things. Seeking purpose.
Laughing. Working. Playing. Writing down negative thoughts.
Resting. Healing. Praying. Serving.
These are actions.
Go act.”

More Muscle = Better Immune System (via Dr. Austin Perlmutter)
- Muscle produces molecules (myokines) that actively regulate immune state.
- Exercising muscle boosts metabolic health, key to immune balance.
- Healthy muscle may fight immune system aging (immunosenescense)
Aging Inspirationally
“I get tired of ‘Under 40’ lists. Show me someone who got their PhD at 60 after losing everything. Give me the 70-year-old debut novelist who writes from a lifetime of love and grief. Give me calloused hands and tender hearts.” – Doug Murano
BONUS! –
In my latest episode of The Way to Grow Mom Show, I talk more about exclusively pumping breast milk for all three of my kiddos. More specifically, I discuss mastitis (what it is, how to prevent/treat it) and weaning from the pump for good! You can listen in HERE.
Thank you as always for your support of my writing!
