Hello, my friend!
I hope you’re having a wonderful week! We just got back from a fun afternoon spent at the neighborhood pool. My baby, Pace, couldn’t get enough of watching his big brother and sister splashing and swimming and leaping from one floating “lily pad” to the next. He gazes at his siblings with stars in his eyes, like they’re absolute superheroes…which, when one considers his current abilities, they sort of are!
During the kids’ quiet time, I had just enough time for a little cardio workout before I showered. If you’re ever short on time, try out this routine, using any two forms of cardio equipment you desire (I chose the rower and air bike. Other options: treadmill, step mill, elliptical, ski erg, etc.):
15-Minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible):
10-calorie row
10-calorie air bike
While I was in the shower, I listened to the first half of this fascinating interview all about cancer on the Diary of a CEO podcast, and I am feeling highly motivated to trash all our plastic-containing plates, cups, utensils, – even tea bags! – etc. and implement a No-Plastic-Purchasing Rule for my family. Of course, we can’t avoid plastic altogether (sometimes you just gotta reach for a plastic water bottle or some such), but there are certainly simple things we can do to minimize our consumption.
In the interview, Dr. William Li shares some terrifying facts about microplastics and how they’re contributing to skyrocketing cancer rates, and heart attacks too!
Okay, didn’t mean to alarm you, but sometimes it takes a good scare to change our habits, or at least to consider changing them.
Time for this week’s Top 4!
RELAX
“The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.” – Sydney J. Harris
In the aforementioned podcast interview, Dr. Li also addresses the vital importance of solid sleep. If you’re not prioritizing it, start tonight!
THE PARADOX OF FREEDOM
“The way to expand your freedom is to narrow your focus.
Stay focused on saving to achieve financial freedom. Stay focused on training to achieve physical freedom.
Stay focused on learning to achieve intellectual freedom.
The disciplined become the free.”
– James Clear
STRUCTURE VS. SPACE
“Summer tends to bring a break in routine – but what if we made that the point? This season, I’m leaning into the idea that growth doesn’t always come from more structure – it can also come from space. Space to breathe, rest, explore, and let curiosity lead.” – Katie Wells
As always, if you have any questions or prayer requests, please don’t hesitate to email me at diana.tyler86@gmail.com. I love hearing from you!
