Happy Friday, inklings!
Many of you know that I recently submitted my novel Age of the Ashers to Kindle Scout. Kindle Scout, for those who may not know (it’s still a little-known secret in the reading and writing world), is a program that allows writers to submit their new, unpublished novels for Amazon readers to review and nominate.
At the end of a book’s 30-day campaign, the Kindle Scout team looks at how the competing books fared in the rankings, and then decides which lucky story best fits the publishing bill (an ever-changing bill, I might add, as the market is always shifting…). If the book one nominates is selected for publication, he or she will receive an e-copy for free. The winning author wins a publishing contract with Kindle Press. My book went live a week ago, and already it feels like an eternity has passed! Okay, that’s a bit of a hyperbole, but thirty days is a long, stinkin’ time to wait while the world judges your book – your pride and joy…your precious baby birthed from your imagination! I’m happy to report that AOTA has enjoyed 113 hours on the Hot & Trending list so far, and I’m optimistic it can gain a few more – with your help, of course!
I won’t pretend for a second that this process isn’t uncomfortable, scary, stress-inducing…to name but a few unpleasant adjectives. But I know that whatever happens, this experience will strengthen me as writer and a human being, because as with all things in life, we only grow when we step outside our comfort zones and dare to take some risks.
Even if the book isn’t selected, I will have proven to myself that I have people in my life who truly support and appreciate my writing (my friends, family, and social media family amaze me with their encouragement every day!), I have the courage to put myself and my work out there to be accepted, rejected, or flat out ignored, and that I have the patience necessary to simply wait and refuse to let anxiety get the best of me.
To celebrate my Kindle Scout adventure, I would like to invite you to view and nominate my book and enter my Rafflecopter giveaway below to win some prizes!
Thank you so much for your support of my work. The encouragement I receive via tweets, emails, Instagram comments and messages is truly amazing and motivates me to keep writing and pursuing my publishing dreams. I couldn’t possibly be more grateful for the awesome online writing community and hope that I’m able to help encourage and inspire you as you do me.
